06/03/19 – Made a start with Duolingo, which I’ve already used for other languages. 50 points (so the first lesson and a part of the second…) I find their app a good way to get started with a new language. Let’s see if it works this time, too!
03/03/19 – I’m managed to study with the app most days. Building a habit of language-learning is vital, and it feels like I’m on the right track! And Spanish feels loads easier than Italian… maybe because a lot of it is the same or similar.
10/02/20 – Oops! Had to drop Spanish (for nearly a year!) in order to prioritise Turkish, as we took a trip to Istanbu in June 2019. And I’ve been continuing to learn Swedish. But now, my wife’s parents have given her flights to Spain as a birthday present, so here I am again! I’ve picked up with Duolingo where I left off, reviewing the parts I did last year. But not only! Friday I had my first online Spanish lesson, via Skype with a teacher in Mexico. And I’m trying to read an article from ‘El Pais’ each day, which isn’t that hard, as I can read well in Italian, and fairly well in French, both of which languages are similar to Spanish. Hope it won’t be another year to the next update!
